Maxima is a wonderful soft wool yarn of finest merino in beautiful melange colors.

Manos del Uruguay started operating in 1968 as a way to help women in rural Uruguay to livelihood. This would avoid too many families being torn apart by forcing one of the adults to go to the cities for a job. The idea was to start from the local conditions such as access to sheep wool and women's craftsmanship and create something from it.

Today, Manos is a cooperative of 400 women spinning and hand-dying yarns that are then sold all over the world. Each tangle is signed by the woman who made it – therefore, as a buyer, you know exactly who gets a share of your yarn purchase. Since 2009, the organization has also been a member of the World Fair Trade Organization – which means that the yarn is fair trade.
